Description
Suggested by ~RD-DD1843, an approximation of the wreck of HMS Captain.
Built as a test-bed for gun turrets, insistance on having sails meant the necessity to site the turrets essentially within the hull, giving terrily low freeboard - a 4 degree list was sufficient to submerge the deck.
In September 1870 she capsized and foundered in a gale in the Bay of Biscay. Only 20 survived out of over 500.

Nice sketch - is this from diving on the wreck? My grandfather's cousin John Gribble was one of the survivors. I have postcard and photo of the survivors (18)
